MPHA Year End Awards

I. Eligibility
  A Open Classes
    1 The horse must be registered Paint Exception: weanling eligible for Paint registration.
    2 Ownership of the horse must be on record at the APHA office. In the event of a leased horse, the lease must be on record with the APHA office.
    3 Minnesota points will be recognized from the date the owner/lessee is a paid member of the MPHA.
      a In the event of transfer of ownership/lease, points will be transferred with the horse, and the new owner/lease recognized. Additional points will be recognized upon the new owner fulfilling membership requirements.
    4 The horse must be exhibited to at least one more than half the judges at MPHA-approved shows in that specific event.
      a If a class is routinely split (i.e., Jr. & Sr.), but is combined during a show, points will be recognized in the age event the qualifies for.
    5 All debts to the MPHA and MPHA-approved show management must be paid in full.
      a Members of the MPHA who are indebted to the MPHA for a period in excess of 60 days shall be suspended from the MPHA until such time as the indebtedness is settled. This suspension shall affect participation in all MPHA activities to include, but not be limited to, attendance at general membership or Board of Director meetings, the right to vote on MPHA matters, exhibiting at MPHA approved shows, and the receipt of Year End & other MPHA Awards and trophies.
  B Amateur Classes
    1 The MPHA adopts the APHA rules for eligibility and ownership. IN addition, the following rules will apply:
      a Minnesota points will be recognized from the date the owner is paid member of the MPHA.
    2 In the event of transfer of ownership, points earned prior to transfer will remain with the original exhibitor.
    3 The horse must be exhibited to at least one more than half the judges at MPHA-approved shows in that specific event.
      a If a class is routinely split (i.e., Jr. & Sr.), but is combined during a show, points will be recognized in the age event the horse qualifies for.
    4 Points are recognized on a one horse/one exhibitor combination.
    5 All debts to the MPHA and MPHA-approved show management must be paid in full.
  C Youth Classes

The MJPHC adopts the AJPHA rules for eligibility and ownership. In addition, the following rules shall apply:

    1 Points for year end awards are earned in youth classes only. (Youth classes qualifying for youth points are listed in the APHA Official Rule Book.)
    2 MJPHC points will be recognized from the date the exhibitor is a paid member of the MJPHC.
    3 In the event of transfer of ownership, points earned prior to transfer will remain with the original exhibitor.
    4 The horse must be exhibited to at least one more than half the judges at MPHA-approved shows in that specific event.
      a If a class is routinely offered in age categories (13&U and 14-18) but is combined during the show, points will be recognized in the event the exhibitor qualifies for.
    5 Points are recognized on a one horse/one exhibitor combination.
    6 All debts to the MJPHC, MPHA and MPHA-approved show management must be paid in full.
 II  Point Tabulation—Open & Amateur Youth
   A Point Tabulation
     1  The MPHA Board of Directors will appoint no less than two persons to maintain point records.
     2  In each approved class, the horse earning the highestnumber of points will be recognized as "Champion".
      a In the event that two horses tie for "Champion" status, both will be recognized; however, no "Reserve Champion" will be recognized.
    3 In each approved class, the horse earning the second highest number of points will be recognized as "Reserve Champion".
      a In the event that two horses tie for "Reserve Champion" status, both will be recognized.
    4 Points will be awarded as follows:

      No points will be rewarded to disqualified and/or nonplaced horses.
III All Around Champion—Youth, Amateur & Open
  A Eligibility Requirements
    1 A horse must compete in halter and at least three approved performance classes in that classification (i.e., Youth, Amateur, or Open), does not have to place but show to more than one half of the judges.
    2 The horse that accumulates the highest total number of points in that classification will be awarded the distinction of "All Around Champion". In the event of a tie, the horse accumulating the most first places will received the award.
IV (Youth) Certificate of Recognition (C.O.R.)
  The C.O.R. was established as a record of performance and recognition to the horse/youth.
  A Eligibility Requirements
    1 Horses are advanced to the C.O.R. when they have won at least twenty MJPHC points in a given recognized class.
    2 Points applied toward the C.O.R. need not be earned in any one year. Points will be recognized and applied as eligibility requirements are met.
    3 Points are based on a one horse/one exhibitor combination.
      Only one C.O.R. per horse/rider in each event shall be awarded.
  B Awards
    1 A proper certificate shall be prepared and presented to the recipient at the annual Awards Banquet.
V Youth Certificate of Accomplishment (COA)
  A Eligibility Requirements
    1 To earn the title of MPHA Youth Certificate of Accomplishment, five COR’s must have been earned in five different MPHA approved youth classes. One of the COR’s must have been earned in Showmanship at Halter.
  B Awards
    1 A proper award shall be prepared and presented to the recipient at the annual Awards Banquet.
VI MPHA Traveling Futurity Trophies
  A Annually, a Futurity Sire and a Futurity Dam of the Year will be separately recognized whose collective get earns the highest amount of futurity monies.
    1 Qualifications
      a Stallion and mare owners must be current members in good standing of the MPHA at the time of the Futurity Classes Show.
      b Stallion must have at least three entries in the Futurity. Mare need have only one but may have more.
    2 Conditions
      a It will be the responsibility of the winner to return the trophy in good condition at the time of next year’s Futurity. The trophy will be presented at the MPHA Awards Banquet or may be picked up by the winner by making previous arrangements.
      b Each winner’s name and the name of the horse will be engraved on a special place on the trophy prior to presentation. Due to the unreliability of the mail service, these trophies will not be sent by mail at any time.
      c In the event that there is a tie for most monies, the sire/dam whose get earns the most first places will be recognized as the MPHA Futurity Sire/Dam of the Year.
      d If a stallion or mare receives the title of Sire/Dam of the Year for three (3) consecutive years, the trophy will be retired to them. A new trophy will be purchased by the MPHA to continue the awards.
